We stayed at this hostel twice now while section hiking the AT. Donna the owner is such a nice wonderful person. She has really made the hostel into a hiking destination for the AT community. We will definitely stay here again next time we hike this area.

I’ve left my vehicle there twice while section hiking, and each time, I was greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. They go above and beyond to ensure that hikers feel welcome and have everything they need.

This is a wonderful place. Stayed here a night while hiking a portion of the AT. All donation based but 4 Pines is truly a gem. The current cook is a top quality chef so you get a great dinner/ breakfast in addition to the wonderful folks who keep it running. Don’t miss a stay at 4 Pines if you’re in the area!

I heard this place has a new caretaker and decided to stop on by and see what the vibe was like compared to before. Super chill and definitely the epitome of Southern hospitality here. Everyone was welcoming, friendly, and having a really good time. This place is a gem and I highly recommend stopping by. Hot meals, hot showers, and warm hearts. Sending a great big THANK YOU to the Four Pines staff Donna, Mr. Freeze, and Thornberry. 🙏🏻 🌲🌲🌲🌲

Perfect accommodations for our Virginia Triple Crown hike. Everyone here is so accommodating and super helpful! We were able to park our car here for a couple nights while we did the Virginia Triple Crown Loop. Arrived back to a top- notch, hearty Chicken Alfredo dinner and watermelon. Such a treat after 3 days in the trail! The next morning there was delicious homemade biscuits, gravy, sausage, and coffee. We also had hot showers and flush toilets!! 😊 We tented so can’t speak for beds but there are several bunks and couches for use. We were offered rides to town/gas station as needed and often asked if we needed anything. Donna and her crew know how to make you feel at home! Will definitely stay again when in the area.

Donna does so much to welcome her thru-hikers, this place is a must stop for any thru-hike. Delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere!

We did the VA Triple Crown as section hikers and decided to stay at Four Pines in the middle of it. We were welcomed in after a quick road walk and introduced to the dog, cat, and chickens. They made spaghetti with fixings for us and the through hikers and we topped off with a frozen pizza later that night. Beds were comfortable, especially compared to shelters or tents. They did our laundry and had showers available. They helped other thru hikers by shuttling packs for a slack pack section. We decided to turn our loop into a point to point, so we called them up and asked if they could shuttle us back to our cars. They were there before we could even finish our gas station pizza. Way above and beyond what we expected from a hostel, and we might honestly come back to the area just so we can get an opportunity to come back. No complaints, fantastic little spot.
